Oekostrom AG sells 40 percent stake in energy startup Power2market
Oekostrom AG has sold 40 percent of its stake in Vienna-based startup Power2market to German energy company Energate GmbH. The transaction took effect on January 1, 2026, and paves the way for the company, founded in 2024, to enter the German market. Oekostrom AG remains a 11 percent stakeholder in Power2market. The startup offers real-time market data and automated market monitoring for the European energy market, targeting municipal utilities, industrial companies, and renewable energy producers.
Power2market pursues a clear objective: creating cost-effective access to energy market data. The company provides real-time market data, daily updated market reports, and automated market monitoring via watchdogs. The offering is complemented by energy weather data and API integration. Power2market was founded in 2024 by Andreas Forster (Senior Energy Expert), Dr. Maximilian Kloess (Managing Director of Oeko Handels GmbH), and Arno Senoner (Managing Director of Nea New Reality KG).
Expansion into German-speaking markets
“Power2market exemplifies how an idea from our ecosystem can develop into an independent, successful company,” says Ulrich Streibl, CEO of Oekostrom AG. He emphasizes the founders’ expertise: “Andreas Forster and Maximilian Kloess are recognized energy experts who developed and implemented Power2market with great foresight.” The move into the German market confirms the commitment to “not only enable innovations, but actively support them through market maturity.”
Energy data in real time
With the sale of the 40 percent stake to Energate, Power2market is taking its next growth step. Oekostrom AG continues to actively support the startup’s further development despite its reduced stake.
Power2market targets companies that market or procure energy. In addition to real-time market data and market reports, automated market monitoring is designed to provide continuous transparency. API integration also allows data to be integrated into existing systems. In the future, the offering is to be available throughout the German-speaking region.
