Nscale Raises $2 Billion, Valuation Soars to $14.6 Billion in Landmark AI Deal
Nscale, a British AI cloud computing provider, has raised two billion US dollars in a Series C round. This is one of the largest transactions of its kind for a European tech startup. The valuation thus increases to a impressive 14.6 billion dollars. The young company, which is supported by Nvidia among others, is simultaneously appointing former Meta executives Sheryl Sandberg and Nick Clegg to its board.
Nscale develops vertically integrated AI infrastructure
The mega-financing was led by Aker ASA, a Norwegian energy and industrial conglomerate. It is working with the decacorn to build a data center for customers like OpenAI in Norway. Also participating is 8090 Industries, a New York-based VC firm. Other investors are according to Nscale Astra Capital Management, Citadel, Dell, Jane Street, Lenovo, Linden Advisors, Nokia, Nvidia, and Point72.
With the fresh capital, the decacorn aims to further accelerate the global development of its vertically integrated AI infrastructure – from GPU computing and networks to data services and orchestration software – in Europe, North America, and Asia.

“Engine of superintelligence”
“Over the next five years, AI will permeate every industry, every product, and every profession. It will accelerate drug research, extend human life, autonomize travel and robotics, boost productivity, and drive massive growth. This leads to the greatest infrastructure expansion in human history,” says Josh Payne, CEO and founder of the young company. “Nscale is leading this expansion. We are creating the foundation on which the market is based, the engine of superintelligence.”
The capital raise is the latest sign of sustained investor enthusiasm for AI infrastructure projects. This persists despite turbulence on Wall Street due to concerns about the technology’s impact. Further challenges for the industry arise from the Middle East conflict, which could disrupt the energy and semiconductor supply chains that data centers depend on.
Nscale is a British spinoff from Arkon Energy, an Australian provider of Bitcoin mining facilities. The young company only launched in 2024. The current deal follows financing of 1.1 billion dollars last September. Additionally, Nscale signed a contract with Microsoft in October worth up to 14 billion dollars for building a large AI data center in Texas.
