Flexoo, a Heidelberg-based startup specializing in physical-AI sensor technology, has successfully completed its Series A funding round of 11 million euros. Lead investors are eCAPITAL and Aumovio. With the capital, the young company is accelerating the global rollout of its business with internationally leading customers from the battery and automotive industries. Additionally, the company plans to further expand its physical-AI platform. This combines ultra-thin, flexibly formable sensors with edge AI.

Startup Promises High-Precision Sensing

With its solutions, Flexoo aims to address a central challenge of physical AI. AI algorithms require precise, high-resolution real-time data about the physical state of technical systems. The startup’s ultra-thin, flexible, and modularly designed sensor platform can be seamlessly integrated into virtually any surface or structure.

The ultra-thin sensors are designed to enable space-saving integration into batteries, vehicle components, and numerous other electronic applications. Additionally, the tech stack is based on high-volume printing manufacturing, which should enable virtually any geometry.
Flexoo promises the highest accuracy and reliability in sensing.

“Flexoo Sensors Make Physical AI Possible in the First Place”

With the sensors, AI is to gain access to high-precision real-time operational data directly from the respective device or system. Flexoo describes the ability to capture data directly at the cell level as a breakthrough that cannot be achieved with conventional systems.

“Flexoo sensors make physical AI possible in the first place: only ultra-thin, freely formable sensing closes the gap between physical hardware and learning algorithms,” explains Michael Kröger, Founding CEO of the young company. With the fresh capital, the startup aims to scale patented technology for a multi-billion-dollar market.

“Broad Industrial Applicability”

Hannes Schill, Managing Partner at eCAPITAL, says about Flexoo: “Billions are flowing into AI models worldwide – while they lack the physical data they fundamentally need. Flexoo closes exactly this gap. We were convinced by the scalable platform technology, a technology architecture validated from research through market launch, and a clearly focused go-to-market based on concrete demand from customers who rely on dependable real-time sensor intelligence.”

“Flexoo impresses with its broad industrial applicability – combined with a cost structure that makes widespread industrial deployment realistic. Highly efficient mass manufacturing enables a compelling price-to-performance ratio, opens up new design flexibility, and entirely new product concepts,” adds Otmar Schreiner, Head of Innovation and Ventures at Aumovio.

In 2026, Flexoo plans to expand international sales and customer support, secure strategically relevant supply contracts, and provide development partners with prototypes of the physical-AI platform.
