Isaac 1: New US Robot Makes Beds and Folds Laundry
US startup Weave Robotics has unveiled Isaac 1, a robot designed to handle various household tasks. The machine is said to be capable of making beds, folding clothes, and tidying up a room. The robot is set to become available in the US state of California from autumn 2026, with a nationwide US rollout planned for 2027. Whether Isaac 1will also come to Europe has not yet been announced.
Isaac 1 Takes Care of Tedious Tasks
Isaac 1 is a mobile robot that moves on wheels and features a humanoid upper body. With two fingers on each hand, the machine is designed to pick up objects and interact with them. The device has a battery life of eight hours, with a charging time of two hours.
“Isaac 1 is exactly the robot we set out to build when we founded Weave: it’s the robot we wanted for our own homes. It was designed to take the most tedious household tasks off your plate so you don’t have to think about them. It fits seamlessly into your home, whether it’s working or resting,” the young company states.
Human Takes Control via Remote if Needed
The new robot is the successor to Isaac 0, which Weave has been delivering to private households and businesses across California since February. According to the startup, this first model has already folded laundry for over two thousand hours and folds more than 400 kilograms of laundry every week.
As with many humanoid robots, certain questions need to be asked about Isaac 1. First and foremost, how autonomously does the machine actually operate? According to Weave Robotics, a human takes control of the device via remote when needed to “ensure that we complete tasks fully.”
Weave Robotics Promises Transparency on Data Privacy
The machine is expected to learn and improve over time. According to Weave Robotics, real-world deployment is essential to the learning process. This is reminiscent of other young companies venturing into the field of humanoid robotics, such as Norway’s 1X with its “Neo”.
Another key question revolves around data privacy. For the robot to learn, it needs data that it collects within customers’ homes. However, Weave Robotics assures that it will always be transparent about when the machine is collecting data. Isaac 1 visibly opens its eyes when it becomes active, allowing customers to see when it is “observing” their home.
US customers can already pre-order Isaac 1. The robot costs $7,999 and comes with an optional premium subscription at $99 per month, which includes regular updates. Alternatively, customers can also pay for the robot via a subscription of $449 per month.
