AI company Anthropic has raised 30 billion dollars in a Series G funding round, achieving a valuation of 350 billion dollars before the capital injection, or 380 billion dollars after the financing. The round was led by Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund GIC and investment firm Coatue, with additional co-leadership from D.E. Shaw Ventures, Dragoneer, Founders Fund, ICONIQ, and MGX.

Major investors also include Sequoia Capital, Greenoaks, Temasek, BlackRock, Fidelity, Goldman Sachs, and numerous other venture capital firms and institutional investors. Part of the financing comes from commitments announced by Microsoft and Nvidia at the end of last year totaling 15 billion dollars. Demand far exceeded the original target, prompting Anthropic to increase the financing volume by 10 billion dollars during the process.

Rapid Growth in Enterprise Business

The San Francisco-based company, founded in 2021 by former OpenAI researchers, reports an annual revenue run rate of 14 billion dollars, with approximately 80 percent of revenues coming from enterprise customers. Over the past three years, revenue has grown more than tenfold each year. The number of customers spending more than 100,000 dollars annually on Claude has increased sevenfold in the past year.

While just two years ago only a dozen customers invested more than one million dollars per year, this threshold is now exceeded by over 500 customers. Eight of the ten largest Fortune companies now use Claude. Chief Financial Officer Krishna Rao emphasized that the financing reflects extraordinary demand and will be used to further develop enterprise-grade products and models.

Claude Code has been particularly successful, becoming available to the general public in May 2025 and now achieving an annual revenue run rate of over 2.5 billion dollars. This figure has more than doubled since early 2026, as has the number of weekly active users since January 1. A recent analysis estimated that 4 percent of all public GitHub commits worldwide were written by Claude Code—double the amount from just one month earlier.

Business subscriptions for Claude Code have quadrupled since the start of the year, with enterprise customers now accounting for more than half of Claude Code revenues. The tool can analyze a company’s existing code, plan and execute tasks, and has established itself as the primary programming tool for software developers. The same capabilities are also opening up new work areas such as financial and data analysis, sales, cybersecurity, and scientific research.

Preparation for IPO and Intense Competition

Anthropic is preparing for an initial public offering that could take place later this year and would rank among the largest IPOs of all time. The company has engaged law firm Wilson Sonsini to prepare for the offering. The new financing gives Anthropic the resources to continue competing with rivals such as Google, Meta, and OpenAI. OpenAI is also in discussions about a new funding round that could exceed 100 billion dollars and has introduced Codex, its own coding agent.

Unusually for Silicon Valley, Anthropic and OpenAI now share several major investors, including Altimeter Capital, MGX, Sequoia, Founders Fund, as well as Nvidia and Microsoft. Competition also extends to researchers and computing resources, with much of the new capital expected to be used for hiring and retaining researchers as well as for access to chips.

Trainium, TPUs, and GPUs in Use

Unlike OpenAI, which has committed to spending well over one trillion dollars on computing resources over the next eight years, Anthropic is taking a more conservative approach to infrastructure spending. Nevertheless, the company will use the new funds to expand its infrastructure and make Claude available on all three of the world’s largest cloud platforms: Amazon Web Services (Bedrock), Google Cloud (Vertex AI), and Microsoft Azure (Foundry).

The company trains and operates Claude on various AI hardware platforms—AWS Trainium, Google TPUs, and Nvidia GPUs—enabling better alignment of workloads with the most suitable chips. Philippe Laffont of Coatue highlighted that the focus on agent-based programming and enterprise-grade AI systems has accelerated progress toward widespread adoption.

The latest model, Opus 4.6, introduced last week, can power agents that handle entire categories of real work and create documents, spreadsheets, and presentations in professional quality. The model leads on the GDPval-AA benchmark, which measures performance on economically valuable knowledge work tasks in areas such as finance and law.

In January alone, Anthropic introduced more than thirty products and features, including Cowork, which extends Claude Code’s powerful engineering capabilities to a broader spectrum of knowledge work tasks. GIC’s Chief Investment Officer Choo Yong Cheen called Anthropic a clear category leader in enterprise AI, demonstrating breakthrough capabilities and setting new standards for security, performance, and scalability.
