PlanA, The Bulgarian co-founded Greentech startup, announced that it is officially expanding in the UK by opening an office in London in July 2022.

“Today Plan A launches in the UK with the promise to open hundreds of job positions and a lot of excitement to support our existing and future UK client base locally! Incredibly happy to be splitting my time between London and Berlin to help our teams internationally grow fast,” wrote co-founder Lubomila Jordanova on LinkedIn.

Lubomila Jordanova explained that the decision to expand to the UK and build a team in London is a result of the rapid growth of PlanA´s client base in the UK. As London is one of the world’s largest financial, banking, and fintech hubs, Plan A’s office opening will support the leading, most reputable, and fastest growing financial institutions in reducing and improving their impact, particularly in the relevant Scope 3 emissions (supplier emissions, investment portfolios).

“Plan A’s software solution, which supports businesses on their net-zero and decarbonisation journey, will be a great addition to the UK’s world-leading sustainable tech and startup ecosystem, facilitated by this government’s commitment to clean, green tech. The UK is home to more than 100 tech unicorns and, with our friendly business environment, there is no better time to be a tech business in the UK,” said Minister for Investment Lord Grimstone.

Founded in 2017, PlanA is a leading software provider that helps companies affected by carbon emission regulations, predominantly banking, financial and international corporations. The startup assists businesses to optimize their environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals and non-financial reporting. To do this, artificial intelligence calculates companies’ emissions and automates their CO2 reduction planning.

The German company has developed a SaaS platform that combines cutting-edge technology and the latest scientific standards and methodologies (certified by TÜV Rheinland). The end-to-end software solution automates CO2 emissions calculation, carbon reduction planning, and ESG reporting for companies. Plan A counts N26, Flixbus, BMW, JOKR, Société Générale and the European Union among its customers.

The expansion is a logical step after the major success of the startup. PlanA has already received several awards, most recently Generali’s SME EnterPRIZE Award 2021 and the prestigious The Europas Award 2021. The startup closed a Series A funding round of  $10 million in November 2021 (HV Capital and Keen Venture Partners, joining Demeter, coparion, and Softbank as investors). Plan A is a B Corp certified business and adheres to strict social and environmental standards.

Earlier this year, co-founder of PlanA, Lubomila Jordanova, was chosen as one of the leaders of the honorable Obama Foundation. In 2021, the company launched a new tool for ESG reporting.
