Entrix Locks In 3 GW of Battery Storage and €43M to Scale Across Europe
Munich-based EnergyTech company Entrix has secured battery storage capacity of 3 gigawatts (GW), or 8.5 gigawatt-hours (GWh), across Europe. Of that, 2 GW are set to go live in 2026. In parallel, an investor consortium has provided the company with an additional €43 million.
The round is led by Belgian energy investors Junction Growth Investors and Korys. Also participating are solar unicorn Enpal, BNP Paribas via the Solar Impulse Venture Fund, insurance group Allianz, as well as AENU, Abacon, and the Arvantis Group.
70 battery storage systems since 2021
Entrix now operates more than 70 battery storage systems across Europe — from standalone projects to co-location solutions combined with solar energy. Entrix launched in 2021 with the operation of one of the first large-scale storage projects in Germany and has rapidly grown into one of Europe’s leading providers of storage optimization, without building assets itself.
The 3 GW of contracted flexibility is roughly equivalent to the output of three nuclear power plants, or the peak electricity demand of around three million households. With offices and local teams in Germany, Italy, Spain, and Poland, Entrix ensures market proximity and regulatory expertise in its core markets. Customers include major Independent Power Producers, infrastructure investors, and municipal utilities, as well as companies such as MEAG (Munich Re), Encavis, and Deutsche Bahn Energie.
Flexibility becomes critical infrastructure
As the share of renewable energy rises and electricity market volatility increases, the ability to manage flexibility across markets is becoming ever more important. Europe’s continued dependence on unstable fossil fuel markets — which still largely determine electricity prices — makes accelerating the energy transition a strategic necessity.
The rapid expansion of data centers is compounding the situation, as they require a permanently stable power supply. Battery storage is set to become the backbone of a fossil-free energy system, bridging the gap between fluctuating renewable generation and reliable around-the-clock electricity supply.
Entrix optimizes battery storage systems across all relevant electricity markets — from frequency regulation and day-ahead to intraday trading. Through AI-driven trading and intelligent optimization, batteries respond in real time to price signals, grid requirements, and portfolio strategies. Beyond short-term trading, Entrix is developing long-term revenue models for battery storage. Together with financial institutions and long-term offtakers, the aim is to generate stable, predictable revenue streams that enable the continued build-out of the energy transition.

Expansion across five core European markets
Entrix is active in five European markets at different stages of the energy transition. Germany remains the largest market by capacity. Poland is rapidly emerging as an important flexibility market, driven by capacity mechanisms and structural changes in the generation mix. With a local team in Warsaw and strategic partnerships with developers and investors such as Greenvolt, Entrix has completed its market entry. The first five projects are set to go live in 2026.
In Italy, the country added more than 5 GW of solar capacity in 2024 alone — with tangible effects on price volatility and regional grid congestion between northern and southern Italy. The Iberian Peninsula is one of Europe’s most dynamic markets for renewable energy. Spain has added more than 20 GW of solar capacity in recent years, significantly increasing the need for storage solutions to manage intraday volatility. The power outage across the Iberian grid in April 2025 further demonstrated the role that flexible capacity plays in grid stability within an increasingly dynamic energy system.
