London Startup Seamflow Raises $4.5M to Automate Global Certification Processes with AI
London-based startup Seamflow has raised $4.5 million in seed funding to further develop its AI platform for the global testing, inspection, and certification industry. The funding round was led jointly by Northzone and Initialized Capital, with Initialized Capital founded by Y Combinator President Garry Tan. Other investors include Entrepreneur First and Nebular, as well as prominent business angels such as former Microsoft strategist Charlie Songhurst and footballer Mario Götze. The company develops software that helps certification organizations streamline testing and approval processes, thereby increasing efficiency in sectors such as medical devices and industrial infrastructure.
From an Austrian perspective, it is noteworthy that Konstantin Klingler is CEO and co-founder of the London startup. Starting in 2016, he attracted considerable attention when, at a young age, he co-founded the Vienna-based book startup Lobu (which delivered books by bicycle) and later engaged with the Coronadetector project during the COVID pandemic. Subsequently, he worked in various companies in the United States, Singapore, and Great Britain in areas such as investment banking, private equity, and startups.
The certification industry struggles with significant bottlenecks that hamper innovation. In the European Union, over 25,000 medical devices are currently awaiting approval from notified bodies, with some approval processes taking more than 20 months. These delays occur because independent experts must review extensive documentation and issue formal approvals before products can reach the market or facilities can become operational. Regulatory requirements are becoming increasingly complex, while the availability of qualified specialists remains limited. Certification bodies struggle to keep pace with growing demand, which blocks critical products and infrastructure projects.
Automating workflows in a 230-billion-pound market
Seamflow addresses this challenge by integrating artificial intelligence into certification workflows. The platform organizes documentation, coordinates reviews, and reduces administrative tasks, allowing experts to focus on assessment-based decisions. According to the company, certification timelines can be shortened to under three months. The approach aims to free up scarce expert capacity by eliminating repetitive tasks. Seamflow operates in the global TIC market, which has a volume of 230 billion pounds and covers areas from factory operations to industrial infrastructure. Although medical devices serve as the starting point, the company is expanding into other segments of this industry.
Founders Konstantin Klingler and Yusufhan Kircova, both in their mid-twenties, have assembled a team from high-profile organizations. Staff members include alumni from British energy unicorn FUSE Energy as well as from Google, Amazon, and X. Klingler told media that the company does not disclose its valuation. When asked about competitors, he pointed to internal platforms based on universal tools such as Palantir, as well as legacy systems. However, these solutions are not designed for the specific requirements of TIC workflows, which is why organizations opt for Seamflow’s purpose-built platform. As an early-stage company, Seamflow does not yet publish formal diversity statistics, but aims to build an inclusive team according to its own statements.
Enterprise customers and expansion plans
The startup already works with major certification companies and is validating its end-to-end platform across the entire value chain. The software addresses key challenges such as document management, auditor scheduling, and coordinating reviews across multiple teams. By streamlining these workflows, Seamflow helps accelerate innovation in the physical economy, particularly in Europe, where certification is closely linked to industrial progress. Over the next twelve months, the company plans to expand its team, enhance product capabilities, and support a growing number of TIC organizations worldwide.
The involvement of Northzone and Initialized Capital underscores confidence in the startup’s long-term vision. Entrepreneur First and Nebular further strengthen this support. The TIC industry forms an essential foundation for global safety and innovation and relies on highly qualified specialists. Seamflow positions itself as a tool that helps these teams manage growing complexity and demand without compromising the trust and diligence on which the industry is built. The funding enables the company to further develop its platform and systematically increase the throughput of certification processes.
