Swedish health-tech company Neko Health has closed a $700 million Series C funding round. With the fresh capital, the company — founded in 2018 by Spotify founder Daniel Ek and Hjalmar Nilsonne — plans to enter the US market this year, with its first clinics set to open in New York and other cities. Only in January 2025, Neko Health had raised a $260 million Series B.

Lightspeed leads the round, prominent names on board

The round is led by Lightspeed Venture Partners, with O.G. Venture Partners as co-lead. Existing investors Atomico, General Catalyst and Lakestar are participating again, while new backers include Liberty City Ventures, Positive Sum and BDT & MSD. David Ofer of O.G. Venture Partners is set to join the Board of Directors, subject to regulatory approval.

What stands out is the long list of prominent individual investors: among them are Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan, Hollywood executive Ari Emanuel, Claudia Schiffer, director Matthew Vaughn, music producer Jimmy Iovine, former tennis star Maria Sharapova, football legend Thierry Henry, author Tim Ferriss and musician will.i.am. They join existing angel investors such as Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, Calm founders Alex Tew and Michael Acton-Smith, and Steven Bartlett.

Full-body scan in 60 minutes

At the core of the offering is the Neko Health Scan: a roughly 60-minute, non-invasive and radiation-free examination that, according to the company, captures millions of health data points. The scan costs £299 in the UK and 2,750 kronor in Sweden. Proprietary sensors, combined with a blood analysis, assess the skin (including moles), biomarkers for pre-diabetes risk, and risk factors for metabolic syndrome, stroke and heart attack. Results are delivered on-site within minutes and discussed in an in-person consultation with a doctor.

The company recently expanded the scan to include body composition analysis and the integration of wearable data, which is reviewed by clinicians. In June, Neko also opened a clinic in Stockholm featuring its next generation of devices — Derma-2, Echo-2 and Spectrum-2 — designed to capture higher-fidelity signals across skin, heart and circulation, and set to be rolled out to all locations in the coming months. Neko develops its hardware, software and the entire customer experience in-house — this vertical integration is considered a central element of the strategy.

100,000 scans, high rebooking rate

Since the opening of its first clinic in February 2023, more than 100,000 people in Sweden and the UK have undergone a scan, according to the company, while over 350,000 have joined the waitlist or registered. 75 percent of members reportedly book and prepay their next scan at the end of their first appointment. Beyond Stockholm, the company operates in Manchester, Birmingham and several London locations (Marylebone, Spitalfields, Covent Garden, Victoria).

As evidence of the value of early detection, Neko points to its own data: three in four returning members with previously identified severe or life-threatening conditions are said to be in good health again or to have their condition under control. Five of seven key biomarkers reportedly showed statistically significant improvement between the first and second scan. These figures have not been independently verified, however — they come from the company’s own data.

CEO Hjalmar Nilsonne described the funding as a vote of confidence in the goal of detecting diseases early and enabling prevention at scale. The timing fits a broader trend: both the UK’s NHS and the US healthcare system are increasingly shifting toward preventive rather than purely curative care — not least because chronic diseases account for the majority of healthcare spending.
