The Vienna-based AI startup eustella is opening up its AI companion for the browser. From now on, the European AI assistant can be used directly at app.eustella.com without any download – using the same login as on mobile, or by creating a new account. This makes eustella available across all major platforms: in the browser, on Android, and on iPhone via TestFlight.

eustella is an agentic AI companion developed in Vienna and positions itself as a European, privacy-focused alternative to US-based AI platforms such as ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini. The product combines a personal AI assistant with a customizable personality (SOUL setting) and specialized agents – for example for Morning News, Deep Research, Learning, or Trip Planning. In addition, users can build their own agents via an Agent Builder. Integrations with services such as Spotify and OpenStreetMap further extend its capabilities. Among the backers of the startup are investors Hansi Hansmann and Hermann Futter; the company is led by CEO Matteo Rosoli.

Open Beta for everyone

With the launch of the web version, eustella is simultaneously entering its open beta phase. The mobile apps are now open to anyone interested – no longer restricted to a closed group of testers as before. Anyone who wants to try out the European Claude challenger no longer needs an invitation.

What the new version offers

Alongside the web launch, eustella has received a series of substantial updates. The most important new features at a glance:

  • Image generation & recognition: Users can now generate images via FLUX.2, the European AI model from Germany-based Black Forest Labs. In addition, eustella can analyze and process photos uploaded from your device.
  • Skills: The companion now taps into specialized expertise – for instance in the field of design. Custom, personalized skills are set to follow shortly.
  • Improved group chats: The collaborative features have been reworked and expanded.
  • Memory management: Users can now rename or delete stored memories at will – simply by telling eustella what to do.
  • Enhanced self-awareness: The system has received an upgrade in the area of self-awareness.
  • Better search: The search function has been noticeably improved.
  • Profile management: Including a new password reset function and further improvements around account management.

The updates are already live in the web version. The mobile apps for iOS and Android will follow in the coming days.

Feedback welcome

eustella relies heavily on community input for its further development. Beta users can share feedback directly with the team via a survey on Tally – the results feed straight into the next update cycles.

For a direct line to the development team, there is also a WhatsApp community where users can exchange ideas with one another and with the founders.

The founders behind eustella are Matteo Rosoli, Alex Maitz, Bastian Kelhofer, and Jakob Steinschaden. The startup positions itself as a European, privacy-focused alternative to US-based AI platforms (more on this here).
